Pujya Guruji's 5-day stay at Jodhpur

Jodhpur Centre had the good fortune of hosting Pujya Guruji on his 5-day visit to the city. Guruji arrived at the Dhamma Marudhara Centre on the 29th of June. He gave Metta to the teenager-girls on the 30th, the Metta Day of the 7-day teenagers' course. The local Vipassana Trust organized two group sittings at the Centre for the benefit of old meditators who arrived in droves from various parts of the country.

In a symbolic ceremony, Guruji laid the foundation of the proposed new Dhamma Hall on the 1st of July. During the course of his stay here, Guruji also gave three public talks including question-and-answer sessions on the 30th of June, the 1st and 2nd of July at Jai Narayan Vyas Town Hall. Guruji's visit after a long hiatus gave the much needed impetus to Dhamma activities in the region.

New Vipassana Centre in Churu

A Vipassana Centre will soon come up in Pujya Guruji's ancestral town of Churu on ten acres of land that have been recently purchased. Construction work is expected to commence soon. Those meditators who wish to participate in the merits of building this Centre may send a cheque / draft favouring 'Pubbaj Bhoomi Vipassana Trust', Churu.

Special Gratitude towards the Meditators

When Acharya Shri S. N. Goenkaji remembers the early days of Vipassana, his mind is filled with immense gratitude for all those who accepted the gift of Dhamma from him at that time. If they had not given him ten invaluable days of their life in those early days, how people from all over the world could come to him today to learn Vipassana? This is the reason Acharya Goenkaji feels especially grateful to those who participated in Vipassana courses in India in the first ten years (from 1969 to 1979) and wishes to meet up with them once again to personally express his gratitude in the Gratitude Gathering. Along with them, all teachers, senior assistant teachers, assistant teachers, children's course teachers, trustees, Dhamma workers and meditators are also cordially invited for this gathering.

Please check if you know meditators who have taken a Vipassana course under Acharya Goenkaji during the period 1969 to 1979. It is possible, if they are not still continuing Vipassana in this tradition, that:

  1. they may not be practising Vipassana and have lost contact or
  2. they have taken up some other spiritual practice or
  3. they have started teaching meditation on their own.

Irrespective what they are doing today, Goenkaji is grateful to all of them. All of them are to be invited for the Gratitude Gathering. Therefore, please send their names, current address, phone number, email, date and venue of their first course and also request others to do the same.
